Hello! I'm Sarah Shah, creator of the Reclaimed Garden. In my work and play, I find beauty in everything - people, places, information, objects - even in raw areas other people overlook.
The garden was born out of the need to landscape a home on a non-existent budget. I had to find the beauty in a dry desolate yard and bring out it's lush and lovely side.
Up until now, I have been a serial plant murderer...unable to make any plant live more than a week. Many died many horrible deaths - dried up from neglect, rotten from overwatering, or malnourished. My grand intentions left only death in it's wake.
By some miracle, everything changed with the Reclaimed Garden. The salvaged plants have thrived. Maybe they appreciated being rescued from the trash and loved for their hidden beauty? Maybe they lived because they were natives and needed very little care? Maybe they thrived because Kevin provided consistent life-giving water?
I can't explain the results.
As the project went on, friends and neighbors were inspired to make subtle and profound changes to their approach to gardening. And the Reclaimed Garden community began to grow.
I'd love to see pictures of your gardens and hear your stories, tips, and ideas about sustainable gardening. Please share them in the comments.
